The guitar has assumed an iconic position in the universe of musical instruments, indeed it has become inarguably the most popular in human history. Rock & roll has certainly played a significant role in the explosion of its popularity, but the history of the instrument is far reaching in its influence on human society, beginning in the baroque era, to the creation of the classical gut string guitar, the steel string acoustic, the prewar arch top, and the electric guitar, which permanently altered the consciousness of American teens in the ‘50s and ‘60s. And as so many artists have acknowledged, it was the Beatles that set them on the path to pursue a life in music playing the guitar.
